UNION CITY MUNICIPAL COURT TRAFFIC AMNESTY PROGRAM

PRESS RELEASE

The Union City Municipal is offering a new traffic amnesty program to resolve unpaid traffic citations.  The “Traffic Amnesty Program” begins March 4, 2019 and will continue through March 29, 2019.  It offers amnesty to individuals who have outstanding traffic citations within Union City.

The purpose of the Amnesty Program is to help restore driving records for as many drivers as possible as well as to allow citizens to handle any outstanding charges, all at one time, often with reduced fines. Selected low-risk traffic charges were identified to take part in the Traffic Amnesty Program to be resolved without seeing a judge. However, some violations require a court appearance, such as no proof of insurance and suspended registration. In those instances, the person must come to Union City Municipal Court office to request a hearing with a judge. Depending on the number of years since the citation was received, people who wish to contest their outstanding traffic citations may have the option of requesting a hearing as well.

Any person who resolves an outstanding traffic citation through the Amnesty Program will receive documentation to submit to the Georgia Department of Driver Services or any other agency, if necessary, to assist in restoring a driving record.

The goal of our citation amnesty program is to provide individuals with open citations an opportunity to efficiently resolve their matters and restore their driving record.

Anyone interested in taking advantage of the program can go to the Union City Municipal Court, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at 5060 Union Street, Union City, Georgia 30291.
