Utility Line Protection Program Available To Residents
The City of Union City has endorsed an optional program available to homeowners that provides low-cost, worry-free warranty protection for water and sewer lines. The program is provided through the National League of Cities (NLC) and administered by Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA). Recently, there have been solicitations by other companies offering water and sewer service line warranties. Please be aware, the coverage and costs offered by these other companies are not the same. SLWA is the only company endorsed by the City of Union City and is the only mailing that has the approval to use the City’s logo.
“Union City is thrilled about the partnership with SLWA, as the program has saved thousands of dollars for a number of residents, especially senior citizen residents,” said Mayor Vince Williams. The National League of Cities Service Line Warranty program offers citizens an affordable way to avoid the unexpected and often large expense involved with a sewer line break. When a line breaks, the cost to repair it can often cause hardship on a family’s budget. This program will offer warranty protection to help cover the costs of a break.
"We are pleased to work with the City of Union City to offer homeowners an affordable Service Line Warranty program," said Brad Carmichael, Vice President of Business Development for Service Line Warranties of America. “We think City homeowners will be pleased with our features and benefits, including a 24-hour repair hotline and the use of local, certified technicians. This keeps dollars in the local economy, an important benefit in these tough financial times.”
The City encourages residents to seek out their own research and carefully review the information provided from all companies. While the products may appear similar, residents should thoroughly review the terms and conditions and the organization offering each warranty to compare factors such as:
• Fees and deductibles
• Coverage caps or annual limits
• Restrictions and coverage
• Cost and discounts
• Company history, reputation and online complaints
• City Partnership
• Better Business Bureau accreditation and complaints
