The Zoning Division provides critical assistance to the public regarding the zoning of residential and commercial property, reviews Conditional Use applications, and provides Zoning Certification letters. Additionally, the Division assists with the administration of the City's Zoning Ordinance and Current Zoning Map.
The Division serves as the liaison between the City Council, Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals which consists of five residents who are appointed to three-year terms by the City Council. The ZBA meets on the third Monday of each month when petitions have been submitted. The most frequent request heard by the ZBA is for a Request for Variance.
Critical ordinances guide the zoning process and were created as a result of recommendations from the Planning Commission. The Commission’s role remains vital as it guides and accomplishes long-range municipal planning. Combined, the Zoning Division and the Planning Commission support positive and proactive development and promote the City’s vision for public health, safety, morals, order, convenience, and prosperity.
The Commission meets on the last Monday of each month when petitions have been submitted.
