Union City Municipal Court has jurisdiction over all traffic citations, ordinance violations, and misdemeanor offenses occurring within the incorporated limits of the City.
To better serve citizens, the Court instituted an automated program in May of 2008, allowing it to operate in a more efficient manner and minimize the amount of time that the officers and public spend in court and awaiting court dates. The Court also added new dates to its docket making it more convenient for the public to attend and have their cases adjudicated. The automated program also provides an avenue for online payment of fines.
In an effort to make it easier for the public to attend hearings, the Municipal Court holds sixteen sessions per month during regular business hours. Four of these sessions are dedicated solely for Code Enforcement issues. The Court also holds two-night sessions per month for those individuals who cannot attend during the day, cannot get time off work, or would otherwise experience undue hardship in attending during regular business hours.
The Court Clerk maintains the court docket, attends all court proceedings, records all decisions made by the Municipal Judge, files all pleadings, and collects all fines and fees related to court proceedings. To contact the Clerk's Office please call (770)-515-7859.
All persons, whether lawyers, parties, witnesses, or spectators, conducting business, participating in trials, or otherwise attending proceedings in the courtroom of the Union City Municipal Court shall be dressed appropriately so as to maintain the dignity, integrity, decorum, seriousness, and professional atmosphere of the Court and the administration of justice.
