The Special Operations Division is the investigative component of the Police Department. Investigators assigned to this division are primarily responsible for investigating both felony and misdemeanor cases. When not responding to crime scenes or following leads, detectives prepare investigative reports for use in court. The Division uses innovative technology and sound investigative techniques in an effort to solve cases. Cases are assigned to investigators who are dedicated to providing victims with answers and keeping crime rates low. Union City investigators investigate crimes ranging from misdemeanor theft to homicide. Training and education is a priority for these investigators as they constantly strive to keep abreast of the latest techniques and available resources to help them conclude cases. The Division is staffed Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
The Special Operations Division is supervised by Captain Mike Jones, a 20-year law enforcement veteran. He is committed to the mission of the Police Department to actively pursue all leads to solve crimes committed within the City.
