Atlanta Braves Donate Meals to Union City Front-line Employees

Union City, GA (April 24, 2020) - The Atlanta Braves organization partnered with Union City’s Department of Parks and Recreation to offer free meals for front-line employees.
The Braves announced on Tuesday the launch of two programs to provide meals for those in need as well as for essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic. It is expected that more than 25,00 meals will be delivered over the next 4-6 weeks. Partners assisting with the transport of meals across metro Atlanta include Second Helpings, Meals on Wheel, YMCA, GoodR, and other local agencies.
Distribution took place at the Etris-Darnell Senior Center Wednesday evening were members of Union City’s Parks and Recreation, Fire and Police departments helped to unload and deliver the meals to front-line employees.
“Mayor and Council and our City staff are committed to supporting our front line as well as those who are in need during this pandemic,” said Parks and Recreation Director Lee Blitch. “Initiatives like these bring our City and citizens even closer together. Kudos to the Braves for stepping up to the plate and hitting a home run in this community.”
Union City’s Parks and Recreation department has maintained a long-standing partnership with the Braves organization including support of the city’s Miracle League Baseball program designed for youth with special needs.
