Full-time employees working 30 hours per week or more maintain a Basic Life Benefit of 2x their Annual Earnings up to the maximum of $200,000. Spouses have a $20,000 Basic Life Benefit and the amount for
Retirement plans. Eligible employees can elect to contribute to a defined benefit 457(b) plan up to the federally authorized legal contribution limit per calendar year. The City will match the employee’s contribution on a percent by percent basis. (www.oneamerica.com)
Additionally, the City has an employee retirement plan that will provide monthly benefits for eligible, retired employees. The plan is designed to supplement the employee’s Social Security benefits and their personal savings. The City pays the entire cost.
Supplemental Insurance. Supplemental insurance coverage for critical illness, accident and hospitalization. Supplemental insurance provides benefits to help cover the costs associated with unexpected bills due to an accident or illness. Flexible Spending Accounts. The rising cost of health and dependent care (or child care) is encouraging more employees to take advantage of FSAs (Flexible Spending Accounts) through Medcom (www.emedcom.net). A participant can save anywhere from 10 – 30% by using pre-tax money in an FSA to pay for health or dependent care expenses incurred during the plan year.
