The Unit is a specialized unit within the Police Department and operates in cooperation with both the Uniform Patrol Division and Special Operations Division. The officers assigned to the Anti Crime Unit are tasked with the responsibility of conducting narcotic investigations, conducting anti gang operations and gathering intelligence information, apprehending fugitives, and conducting operations in any problems areas of the City.
The primary role of the Unit is to investigate, suppress, and prevent criminal activity. This is accomplished through a variety of mediums to include undercover operations, high visibility patrol, and public education.
The Anti Crime Unit is led by Investigator Denson Sterling. Investigator Sterling began his tenure with Union City over ten years ago. During that time Sterling has served as a patrol officer, Tactical Team member, Mastor Patrol Officer and Lieutenant of the former Union City Jail.
